Introducing Harris
Harris Gómez is the Founder and Director of Harris Gomez Group (HGG), a boutique law firm known for its cross-border legal services across Australia and Latin America. As an Australian solicitor and barrister with over 30 years of experience in commercial and corporate law, Harris has dedicated his career to helping companies navigate complex legal and regulatory landscapes across multiple jurisdictions.
Under Harris’s leadership, HGG has become a trusted advisor to international businesses expanding across Latin America and foreign companies investing in Australia. His commercial mindset and deep cross-cultural fluency have shaped the firm’s distinctive ability to deliver practical, business-aligned legal solutions.
Background and Experience
Harris holds a B.Com (Finance)/LLB from Bond University and an unrestricted practicing certificate from the Law Society of New South Wales. Fluent in both English and Spanish, he practiced in Chile between 2008 and 2014 and continues to lead the firm’s operations across Sydney, Santiago, and Lima, where he is currently based.
With a legal career spanning more than three decades, Harris has advised clients on a wide range of matters including M&A, commercial contracts, employment law, real estate, planning and development, and cross-border corporate structuring. His focus lies in helping global clients in sectors such as technology, METS, and software services enter and scale across Australia and Latin America.
Whether supporting a Canadian mining tech company launching in Peru or an Australian SaaS business commercialising in Brazil, Harris ensures that clients receive legal advice grounded in strategy, efficiency, and local insight.

Current Focus
Harris is currently based in Lima, where he is supporting a growing number of clients taking advantage of Peru’s strategic position in the region. With increased interest from Australian, Canadian, and European companies (particularly in the mining, engineering, and technology sectors) Peru has become a key focus area for HGG’s regional growth.
In Australia, Harris continues to advise innovative technology and IP-driven companies on commercialisation strategies, global expansion, and investment structuring. He also supports Latin American businesses investing in Australia with corporate structuring, employment law, and property transactions.
Across Latin America, Harris and the HGG team act as long-term legal counsel to companies from Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, and South Africa, managing everything from local subsidiary set-ups and joint ventures to mining services contracts and ongoing compliance.
Industry Engagement
Harris is a Board Member of Austmine and the Australian Latin American Business Council (ALABC), reinforcing his commitment to building commercial bridges between regions. Through these roles, he actively promotes trade and investment ties between Australia and Latin America and plays an influential role in helping companies internationalise responsibly and sustainably.
A vocal advocate for exporting legal services, Harris believes that legal strategy is integral to global business success and that culturally fluent legal advisors play a key role in reducing international risk.

The Value Harris Brings
With unmatched cross-border legal experience and a strong commercial focus, Harris brings unique value to clients navigating international growth. His leadership has defined HGG’s core values: practical legal advice, delivered with cultural fluency, and aligned with business objectives.
As businesses increasingly expand beyond borders, Harris remains a trusted voice in cross-border legal strategy, and dedicated to making legal services a powerful enabler of international success.
Over the past three decades, I’ve seen firsthand how the right legal strategy can make or break an international venture. What sets us apart is not just our legal knowledge, but our deep understanding of how business is done across cultures and jurisdictions. We take a holistic approach to international expansion, so we don’t just give legal advice. We help our clients truly understand the business cultures they are moving into, avoid risks, and grow with confidence across borders.”
