Introducing Luke

Luke Musto is an Associate Lawyer at Harris Gómez Group, a cross-border law firm supporting international business across Australia and Latin America. An Australian-qualified solicitor fluent in Spanish, Luke has developed deep regional experience working as part of the HGG team in Latin America, and is now returning to Sydney to work as part of the Australian team. With a commercial mindset and culturally fluent approach, Luke advises clients on complex legal matters spanning employment, corporate structuring, compliance, and international expansion. His cross-jurisdictional capability and bilingual communication style have made him a trusted advisor for both inbound and outbound legal strategies.

Background and Experience

Luke holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (Spanish – Distinction) from the University of Wollongong, as well as a Master of Laws from the Australian National University. He is admitted to practice in New South Wales and is a member of the NSW Law Society. Since joining HGG, Luke has supported international clients entering and scaling across Chile, Argentina, and Australia. He has acted on matters involving commercial contracts, employment law, immigration, software licensing, and dispute resolution. Luke advises clients on diverse topics such as international arbitration in Australia, hiring risks in Latin America, and the localisation of Australian commercial terms for LatAm markets. During 2024, Luke served as Deputy Practice Lead as a maternity leave cover in the Santiago office, managing a team of local professionals and advising clients on multi-country operations.

Current Focus

From September 2025, Luke will be based in HGG’s Sydney office, as part of the firm’s international and cross-border practice. His focus is on supporting Latin American companies expanding into Australia, and helping Australian businesses navigate complex legal environments across Chile, Peru, and Argentina. Luke is particularly active in sectors such as mining, technology, engineering services, and software commercialisation, advising on contract localisation, compliance risk, IP strategy, and employment structuring. He continues to work closely with HGG’s LatAm teams to deliver seamless service across jurisdictions. Whether assisting an Australian company hiring in Chile or a Peruvian mining supplier entering Australia, Luke ensures that legal strategy is efficient, tailored, and regionally grounded.

Cross-Border Expertise

Luke’s strength lies in connecting legal strategy with the realities of doing business across Australia and Latin America. Having lived and worked across Latin America, and now returning to Sydney, he brings clients:

  • Bilingual, bicultural fluency – ensuring nothing is lost in translation during negotiations or contract drafting.

  • Proven cross-jurisdictional results – experience advising on deals and disputes involving multiple legal systems.

  • Commercial insight – aligning legal solutions with business goals in sectors like mining, METS, and technology.

  • On-the-ground networks – direct access to trusted contacts across Chile, Peru, and Argentina for faster, informed decision-making.

Luke combines legal precision with a practical, relationship-driven approach, helping clients reduce risk, speed up execution, and enter new markets with confidence.

The Value Luke Brings

With deep cross-border legal experience and a clear, pragmatic approach, Luke helps clients reduce risk, unlock growth, and build operational clarity as they scale across jurisdictions. His bilingual capability and cultural fluency are a cornerstone of his ability to bridge legal and business realities. Luke’s legal style is proactive, business-aligned, and relationship-driven, making him a valuable ally for clients expanding into or out of Latin America.

After several years working across Latin America, I’m looking forward to returning to Sydney and continuing to support clients with cross-border matters. Whether it’s an Australian company expanding into Latin America or a Latin American business entering Australia, my focus remains the same: delivering clear, commercially grounded legal advice tailored to both regions.” – Luke Musto, Associate

Harris Gomez Group METS Lawyers ® opened its doors in 1997 as an Australian legal and commercial firm. In 2001, we expanded our practice to the international market with the establishment of our office in Santiago, Chile. This international expansion meant that as an English speaking law firm we could provide an essential bridge for Australian companies with interests and activities in Latin America, and to provide legal advice in Chile, Peru and the rest of Latin America. In opening this office, HGG became the first Australian law firm with an office in Latin America.

As Legal and Commercial Advisors, we partner with innovative businesses in resources, technology and sustainability by providing strategy, legal and corporate services. Our goal is to see innovative businesses establish and thrive in Latin America and Australia. We are proud members of Austmine and the Australia Latin American Business Council.
