Chile launches Substation Tender

The operator of Chile’s northern SING grid is selling bidding rights for the 220kV Crucero Encuentro substation tender as part of an effort to expand the grid’s trunk line capacity.

Requiring a US$23mn investment, the project will be located 5km from the midpoint of the Crucero-Encuentro transmission line section in Antofagasta region (II), according to documents from operator CDEC-SING.

The substation will connect to the section via two new 2x220kV lines. Bids are due March 10, 2015.

Works are scheduled to begin in June 2015 with an estimated completion period of 36 months.
